Our pioneering concept of ISTHMUS has now become an international forum by virtue of its online release (Pharmainfo.net) with effect from August 2009. We will be having online discussions on the most critical challenges and opportunities in the Healthcare sector based on the month’s theme with awards for the best contributors as judged by the panel to inspire all the participants to give their best support.

It was the brainstorming of Team ISTHMUS that i365 (International Online Discussion in collaboration with Pharmainfo.net) came into picture in May, 2009 with the concept of ISTHMUS going 365 days, where ‘i’ depicts ISTHMUS, INTELLECT, INDUSTRY, INSTITUTE and INTERNET.

Finally the event was launched on 10th July, 2009 at 2nd Indian Pharmaceutical Association Student’s Congress (IPA-SF), at Achraya & B. M. Reddy College of Pharmacy, Bangalore by the students of SPTM.The response of Pharmacy students from different parts of India and abroad was overwhelming.

The first round of discussion which started on 24th August, 2009 on “Indian Pharma and New Patent Regime” is already over on 13th September, 2009.In the first round of discussion, Team ISTHMUS was honored to have:

• Mr. Homi Bhabha: Ex- Director, OPPI; Ex– Vice President, (Marketing) & Executive Director, Wyeth.
• Dr. Mahalaxmi Andheria: General Manager – (IPR), Panacea Biotech
• Dr. R. S. Gaud : Dean, (Faculty of Pharm. Sciences) SVKM’s NMIMS

as the members of their esteemed Jury Panel. The discussion received an overwhelming response from all parts of India. Overall 27 entries were received from the students of various Pharmacy colleges like NIPER (Mohali), S. P. H. College of Pharmacy, Malegaon, SPTM (Shirpur), Gupta College of Pharmacy (West Bengal) and many more, which presented their appreciable views on the topic.
